I’ll remember her on the Cosby Show
I saw Lena Horne when I was about 12 at the Music Circus in Sacramento, CA. I remember it like it was yesterday. What a performer! She opened with the original lyrics to The Lady is a Tramp, which are kinda racy, & I was mesmerized. I’d seen that very performance on Sesame Street, Jeffrey. That’s one of the performances I point to that caused my love of jazz.
And I remember that there was a full moon that night, too. I watched it, low & huge, all the way home.
