So, since I’m clearly fumbling my way around with iMovie ’08, help me out. How can I reverse the image in iMovie so that you can read the print on my coffee cup? Do I have to buy the full version of the program to flip the image horizontally? Unfortunately iMovie was redesigned and the effects capabilities removed in the ’08 version, re-added somewhat in the ’09 version, and to bring further bad news ’06 is no longer available as a free download from Apple’s website. (Though you could probably find it on Google, not sure what the legal or licensing deal would be doing it that way however.)
Sorry, but as far as doing that in iMovie ’08 I don’t believe it’s possible.
Funny. :-). Wilson had his fence; you have your coffee cup. Love your thoughts on becoming more visible to your readers. lol. Nice unofficial start. No technical advice forthcoming…I have a Dell.

It’s good to see you don’t believe in product placement advertising!
Definitely reminiscent of “Home Improvement” – !
Tim Taylor: Wilson, have you ever had a really annoying neighbor?
Wilson: Tim is this a trick question?
I think it’s great that you want to make yourself more visible. I’m afraid I don’t have any technical assistance to provide, but I did want to make a comment about aesthetic. I think you should lose the coffee cup. It’s cute, and I smiled, but I’ve been reading your work for a few years now, and I’m not sure I would file any of it under “cute.” Okay, maybe some, but I would prefer to see your full range of expression when you speak. You write about “dangerous movie going,” and if I’m going to follow someone into danger, I’d like to see his face.
I hate iMovie ’08.
I’m sorry I have no helpful words.
But, if you ever want to film a Portland version of your AVB, I could help you out. And then edit it on Final Cut Pro (which should not be simpler than iMovie, but it is).
But anyway, good luck! Look forward to seeing more of these.
Not that you’re asking for advice, but I guess I’d agree with Travis. The “cuteness” of the cup in front of your face might not work with the themes of most of your messages. It maybe works in this particular case, just because it seems you’re mainly trying this technology out, but for the long run you might want to “lose the cup.”
The Cup was never intended as a regular element. It was actually an accidental: I noticed it when I started the camera, and it made me laugh, so I just went with it.
Wow, you do a killer raised eyebrow :).
When you’re done with The Cup, by the way, you might want to send it along to Adrian Beltre. He could probably use one next season.
