I think you conjure up perfectly what makes this film work so well. The way it immerses us in this strangely bizarre yet somehow plausible world and takes us through it by following an unlikely hero is what makes the storytelling of “Winter’s Bone” so strong and so unlike most films being made today.
It’s because of those elements that I can declare without any equivocation that “Winter’s Bone” is my favorite film of the year with no other film even in the same ballpark.
