Last night, while the weather outside turned frightful, Mardukas decided to become a lap cat, and well… just look at those eyes… he wasn’t about to be dissuaded from his decision. So I worked on Cyndere’s Midnight, the sequel to Auralia’s Colors, for three hours straight with Mardukas (the inspiration for that big, wild, black cat named “Dukas” in the book) draped over my lap with his paws on the keyboard.
Bonus points for anybody who knows where my cat’s name comes from.
Midnight Run – the Charles Grodin character (Jonathan Mardukas). Of course, I cheated – looked it up online. Here’s my question: I am guessing I need to see that film, huh? I have never bothered, and I have heard that it has approximately 8000 F-bombs in it, but it must have a special place in your heart…?
Hilarious. All I could think of was that big dog Marmaduke from the Sunday funnies – a twisting of the name.
Just finished Auralia’s Colors about an hour ago, and wow. Will let you know when my review is up at The Pile. I plan on making it my book choice for the next round of my book club!
Can’t wait for the next one!
I love the picture! Reminds me of my cat Pepper. 🙂
I thought Mardukas was from the Epic of Gilgamesh.
