You meet the most interesting people at the Glen Workshop (which, by the way, is open for registration again).
Sara Zarr had just scored a book contract when I first met her, and now the book is here — Story of a Girl. And Sara’s just been interviewed about it for School Library Journal.
If you know a young adult who needs a good read, check out Sara Zarr!
The Girl from Monday is really worth seeing, though not one of his best. I keep getting the urge to watch Simple Men again.
I did re-watch Shelley’s Sudden Manhattan again recently, and it holds up very, very nicely. (“I shouldn’t have eaten the noisy eggs… probably wasn’t the smart thing to do.”)
Actually, Waitress was the third feature film Shelley directed, following Sudden Manhattan (1997) and I’ll Take You There (1999). She also directed a few short films.
