Sounds like The DaVinci Code is so bad, people are laughing at the wrong moments.
… the reaction at the first press screening in Cannes was largely negative, and loud laughter broke out at one of the pivotal scenes.
“Nothing really works. It’s not suspenseful. It’s not romantic. It’s certainly not fun,” said Stephen Schaefer of the Boston Herald.
“It seems like you’re in there forever. And you’re conscious of how hard everybody’s working to try to make sense of something that basically perhaps is unfilmable.”
Thanks to Peter Chattaway for alerting me to the news.
And apparently, it’s not pleasing the DVC fans either.

Considering how many of these little entities come into being every day, I’m baffled at how rarely we see a picture like this.
The reason for this is pretty much the same reason that the media collectively decided to stop showing images of the Twin Tower tragedy soon after 9/11. Images are powerful and make us think. And it’s just possible that the media doesn’t want us thinking too much about certain topics.
“It’s steering us back toward science fiction that isn’t about guns and massive bosoms.”
Um . . . I must be seeing the wrong movies. 😉
It’s an arresting image. And a beautiful one. Very powerful.
I’m going to be thinking about this poster all day.
“I want to see this poster in theaters everywhere.”
Amen.
I’m intrigued too, as long as it doesn’t have anything in common with this or this. The title and blurb make me a wee bit suspicious.
This poster is great. I highly recommend the book too. It is very life affirming in many ways. It is really more about a dystopian future than science fiction, though I suppose those overlap often enough.
Adam, I think you are spot on that this poster would make many uncomfortable for the reason you cite.
Martin – nothing to do with those, but everything to do with this.
Only problem is that it gives away the plot point that somehow took me by surprise when I read the book. Anyway, since it appears to not much reflect the book, I’ll just watch it for the director’s styling.
I can’t wait to see it.

I hope you’re right, but it appears most of the advertising is using a much less powerful image: http://imdb.com/title/tt0206634/
