Billy Graham has been testifying to God’s grace for decades. Now, the guy’s dedication to preaching the gospel is bordering on Herculean.
Here’s an interesting clip from CNN’s coverage of what looks to be his last rally.
Despite his many ailments, he spoke strongly for about 15 minutes, in an address meant to appeal to young people. He peppered his speech with pop-culture references from Madonna to Bono to MTV. He wove a parable about bad decision-making from the plot of “Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith,” in which Anakin Skywalker becomes the villain Darth Vader.
The participation of Bill Clinton in the event must have discomforted many conservatives, especially considering Graham’s remarks regarding the Clintons:
Graham called the Clintons “wonderful friends” and “a great couple,” quipping that the former president should become an evangelist and allow “his wife to run the country.”
All I can say is, “How can you not love Billy Graham?”
Somebody back me up on this one…
I’m excited that he’s a conservative Christian Democrat, not because I hate Republicans, but because the expected norm is conservative Christian=conservative Republican. I like that it’s not what you would expect.
And, let’s not forget, he pulled some heavy weight in helping to move forward racial equality and de-segregation. Not things that you would equate with Southern Democrats before LBJ.
Perhaps the most blatant reference to the Narnia books in Harry Potter would be the character Cedric Diggory who is killed by Lord Voldemort in the fourth book. The creator of the wardrobe was named Cedric Diggory.
