Over on the Feedback page of Christianity Today Movies, Mark Moring has posted some more of the letters responding to the reviews there.
There are some interesting reactions to Peter T. Chattaway’s interview with Brian Flemming, the self-described “Christian atheist” and his claims that Jesus didn’t exist. (I posted a link to this last week.)
There are also some forceful reactions to reviews of Cinderella Man and The Longest Yard.
Nothing terribly surprising, but as always, very interesting.
Sigh.
“I’m an atheist because I only believe those things that can be demonstrated and proved. I don’t believe that faith is a good thing at all. But I’m a Christian in that I love Jesus.”
Sorry, bad news for him, but his first sentence is a faith statement. But I’m curious: he only believes morals that have been “demonstrated and proved” (conclusively?)? Oh, a sentence or two earlier he says:
“But the Jesus that I hold in my mind as the Jesus who taught me my moral values in many ways, I don’t want to lose that.”
Sounds like exactly the sort of thing he believes almighty “knowledge” to be the enemy of.
I admit that I don’t fully understand the relationship between Paul & Jesus & the other church leaders (although I think Paul’s Jewish training counted for a lot). But for goodness’ sake, Dan Brown doesn’t even believe that Jesus never existed (and he claims he seriously entertained the idea)!
