David Edelstein made me stand up and cheer with this statement:
My choice for the worst twist ever: The Life of David Gale. Is this our generation’s Plan 9 From Outer Space? The dumbness is epic, colossal: You want to sink to your knees to worship the holy mother of moron twist endings.
Want to hear what other “twist endings” he hates? He’s come up with plenty of stinkers.
how about a play

What, no To Live and Die in L.A.? Least plausible ending I’ve ever seen.
Million Dollar Baby has to be on the list. Acts One and Two have almost zero relationship to Act Three.
Wow. Some of the films that made his lost just don’t make sense to me. I can see how the general *concept* of some of those twists would be frustrating…but some films do it well, some do it frustratingly bad…and I think his list contains some films that did it well…
Sigh.
“I’m an atheist because I only believe those things that can be demonstrated and proved. I don’t believe that faith is a good thing at all. But I’m a Christian in that I love Jesus.”
Sorry, bad news for him, but his first sentence is a faith statement. But I’m curious: he only believes morals that have been “demonstrated and proved” (conclusively?)? Oh, a sentence or two earlier he says:
“But the Jesus that I hold in my mind as the Jesus who taught me my moral values in many ways, I don’t want to lose that.”
Sounds like exactly the sort of thing he believes almighty “knowledge” to be the enemy of.
I admit that I don’t fully understand the relationship between Paul & Jesus & the other church leaders (although I think Paul’s Jewish training counted for a lot). But for goodness’ sake, Dan Brown doesn’t even believe that Jesus never existed (and he claims he seriously entertained the idea)!
