A few days back, Looking Closer celebrated the resilient marriage of Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist. Today, applause for the resilient marriage of Bono and Ali! Humans is better than either of these.
Don’t care for Cockburn’s later material–sorry–his spoken word diatribes are like poor white man’s rap.
However, I do appreciate “Dancing in the Dragon’s Jaws”, “Nothing But a Burning Light” and the album with “Closer to the Light”–the fine Mark Heard tribute song.
Oh yeah, his Christmas album totally ROCKS.

Man, you have great taste in music! I live in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, about 40 minutes west of Halton Hills, where Bruce wrote so much of his wonderful music. I try to play guitar and have always loved trying to emulate “Lord of the Starfields” along with a few others from his library. Bruce comes to town this November – Yeehaw!
I really like “Sunwheel Dance”, “Dancing in the Dragon’s Jaws”, “Nothing But a Burning Light”, and “Joy Will Find A Way”.
I’ve actually seen Bruce more times than I’ve seen OtR (which isn’t saying too much since I’ve only seen him 3 times and OtR twice) but both times he was absolutely AMAZING. His sense of humor coupled with his observations on life and politics never cease to amaze me.
Happy Birthday Bruce!
