I finished reading Shusaku Endo’s Silence a few months ago, and there hasn’t been a day that’s passed since then that the book hasn’t haunted me.
I highly recommend that you add it to your must-read list.
Here’s a new review of the book by Dr. Luke Reinsma, who happens to be one of my favorite people on the planet, and who remains an inspiring literature professor at Seattle Pacific University.
And speaking of Dr. Reinsma, here’s a piece I wrote in his honor.
I’ve been intrigued by Endo since reading a mini-bio of him in Philip Yancey’s extremely helpful (to me) “Soul Survivor: How My Faith Survived the Church.” I’m wading through Dostoevsky’s “Brothers Karamazov” right now, but “Silence” is next on my list, thanks to your reminder…
any news on the scorcese adaptation?
