Chances are I’ll make my way to your neighborhood one of these days, if I haven’t already. And I’d love to meet LookingCloser.org readers, and anybody who has ventured into the world of Auralia’s Colors, Cyndere’s Midnight, and Raven’s Ladder.
These days, I’ve been delivering presentations on:
- “Following The Auralia Thread” – Writing Fantasy as a Practice of Discovery
- “Beyond Blockbusters” – Entering the Mind of Contemplative Cinema
- “Through a Screen Darkly” – Faith, Discernment, and a Memoir of “Dangerous Moviegoing”
- “How to Chew Your Movies” – Lessons from my Decade as a Film Reviewer
- “Beast and the Beauty” – A Tradition of Magic and Monsters in Storytelling
- “The Eagles are Coming!” – Fairy Tales, Fantasy, and Faith
- “We Are Also Five: How to Play Without Ceasing” – The Redemptive Power of Play, Improvisation, and ‘Wasted Time’
Keep in mind: I go where I’m invited. So send me a detailed invitation, and we’ll see what we can do.
Here is my current calendar of speaking engagements.
If you need more details, let me know. If you’re interested in having me share thoughts on faith and art (whether that be movies, fantasy, writing or something else), email me at joverstreet@gmail.com. The calendar’s getting pretty crowded between now and next fall, but we can start penciling things in for late 2010 and 2011…

So when are you coming to Europe again?
🙂
Poor Philadelphia has been overlooked once again. Not that is your fault persay since we seem to have a lack of any real interesting events as of late. I hope someday that you’ll make your way to Philadelphia if there happens to be an event of interest.
If enough of your friends buy books, maybe someday I can start buying my own plane tickets. But for now, The Auralia Thread is like a rumor, spreading from reader to reader, and so I have to wait for invitations. Believe me… Philadelphia hasn’t been overlooked! I’d love to visit; I’ve never been there before.
What about Dallas? You visited last year…
Has Raven’s Ladder been released? Did I miss it? Maybe we can get you to come to our library one of these days. I’ll put a bug in their ear. I have connections. 🙂
No love for California? San Jose needs you… or at least my husband and I would love to meet you and we live in San Jose…
Hi Jeffery,
Sure would like to meet you at some point in time. I am a big fan of Steve Brown and I live in the Kent, Wa area. Hopefully we can cross paths sometime in the near future. I am retired and have a very flexible schedual.
