I’m still a beginner when it comes to iMovie. But I’m learning a little every time I work with it.
This episode, in which I learn that ten minutes is too long for this sort of thing, covers some of my favorite recent music. And it has a couple of surprises for you.
Enjoy.
And when you’re finished, go visit samphillips.com and lucishaw.com, where you’ll find information about two worlds abundant in poetry and insight.
Jeffrey, thank you so much for this wonderful interview with Sam and for helping her promote The Long Play. As you know, I’m very biased where Sam is concerned, but everything she has created on The Long Play is fantastic, and the EP “Hypnotists in Paris” brings me joy every time I listen to it — her song writing is phenomenal. Everyone needs to subscribe to The Long Play — what a beautiful gift she has given us!
That’s the way to make the LookingCloser vlog visually interesting — interpretive Sam Phillips interview performance-art! =)
Those are some tasty snippets from Allen Toussaint and Joe Henry. Speaking of music like Henry’s that defies easy categorization (kinda rock, jazz, post-rock, ambient, etc., etc.) if you don’t know about them you should check out Tortoise. They are my favorite band – a kind of rocky, jazzy, totally instrumental ambient goulash — which is how that brief Henry clip struck me, and immediately made me think of Tortoise. You can check out full-length clips from their recent album: “Beacons of Ancestorship” on Thrill Jockey label website (see tracklist on right sidebar).
Phillips, Shaw & Overstreet – Not much of a name for a law firm, but they are three of of my favorite artists.
Now you just need to start a video blog series about the creative process . . .
Nice! Really liking your vlogs–relaying good information while having fun. 🙂
