Mark Shea shares a video that’s almost too convincing to be funny.
I noticed a church Web site this week advertising an event called “Baptism Bonanza” at the beach. It promised free barbecue for anybody who wanted to come.
That’s the tone of many contemporary churches: “Forget all you’ve heard about worship. We promise… we’ll make it fun for you. Somehow… we’ll make it fun.”
“How about Super Bowl tickets?”
“That’s asking too much…”
“I’m serious, if I join, I want tickets to the big game.”
LOL
Should’ve been The Hold Steady.

Sad to see your disdain for Pearl Jam, one of the best live bands on the planet. They successfully left the grunge years behind to emerge as a rock outfit with a prolific output which acknowledges the great history of rock which came before them while making the sounds of Zeppelin,Crazy Horse, and The Who all their own.
But you might just be cynical because you hail from the “birthplace of grunge”
Oh, and Bono loves and shares the stage with them whenever he can.

Since when does my objection to naming Pearl Jam “the Best American Band of 2006” translate into “disdain for Pearl Jam”?
I don’t see Pearl Jam’s latest album earning many end-of-year raves from American music critics, so I’m a little surprised to see them voted Best American Band. That’s all.
I’m sorry I misunderstood the underlying sarcasm in the initial entry and the use of the word “Sheesh” for disdain.
Look up the word here and you will see why I might have made a mistake. http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~wrader/slang/s.html
Kinda funny.
And you are in the minority when it comes to their latest album sorry. Probably the best reviews they have received in years.
http://www.metacritic.com/music/artists/pearljam/pearljam?q=pearl%20jam The Rolling Stone Poll and readers (smarter than I thought) must take into account a bands tours and shows when they create the poll and cast their votes.
But in the end I was just surprised to see your disapproval (if I can use that word) when it came to them winning the poll since usually I am convinced we were separated at birth because our tastes in film and music are often scarily similar.
Cheers and Blessings
