Incredible to think of where one can find a treasure. I found Auralia's Colors in a small temporary bookstore and am already entranced by its pages. Thank you for inspiring me. I'm looking forward to continuing this journey with Auralia. As a fellow writer, may I praise this book for its enchanting descriptions, vivid depiction of setting the scene, compelling characters, and riveting action. Along with my passion and other sources, it's words like these that continue to propell my love of writing.

Sincerely,

Emily Shore-an old but soon to be upcoming author

You are spot-on with the review about "Stevie." Absolutely beautiful film. Also, I appreciate your comments about Tonya and her best friend. I've been working with people who have developmental disabilities for quite some time, and it is indeed true that they offer great insights about living and loving.

Would have to disagree with you and Walt over this one. Names are important. Unfortunate to be sure that they invited them, then canceled, but I don't think they need more people judging them for this.

This is so good. Thanks for posting it. Everything about the way this modern <em>world</em> is ordered, is to drive us on incessantly -- so that we don't have time to stop, reflect, think and <em>appreciate</em> (that stopping which seems to be the very heart of worship). There's a song by the band Rush I've always loved that addresses this issue called <a href="http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/53020/" rel="nofollow">"Time Stand Still."</a> It grapples with that frustrating feeling of always being driven forward like a herd of cattle.

Luke and others...

I recommend that anyone interested in further discussion of this go the Andy Whitman post to see some good arguments on both sides of the issue. I think you'll find it's not as easy as equating this with the fact that Christ dined with prostitutes.

The overreaction of the College, that is. Not you. You seem quite level-headed. Don't want to be unclear or uncharitable, there.

"There are more worthy things to focus on, than fellow Christians throwing stones at fellow Christians over this."

This is not about Christians throwing stones at Christians. It's about sending an open invitation to the world to throw stones at Christians. Whomever made this call has contributed hugely to the public image of Christians as hypersensitive, culturally disconnected nutjobs who let fear of the unknown dictate their lives. We don't need more people seeing Christians in that light. Christ himself was known to dine with actual prostitutes. It's hardly Christlike to turn away perfectly decent people (and their seven zillion fans) simply because they jokingly named their band using a word which means someone who manufactures something objectionable. The word "Pornographer" isn't even an objectionable word, in itself. Saying the word "Murderer" in jest is not the same thing as actually killing someone. The overreaction is huge and ridiculous.

I am not surprised that people didn't do very well on that survey. Most Christians know very little about other faiths. Fortunately I attend a church that has offered a World Religions class multiple times. That, and a Bible college degree helped me ace that test.

I do wish that more Christians took the time to become familiar with othe religions, but so many Christians spend too little time becoming familiar with their own religion and that should be their number one priority.
