I think Auralia's Colors is my favorite. For one thing, I'm a sucker for moonlit scenes. I love the use of moonlight in the clouds and the mist, and the way it reflects from the city below. The overall effect is both beautiful and mysterious... more than any of the other covers, it made me want to be there.

Fantastic review! I saw the start of this on RT and came here to read it in full because I completely agree with your points. I'd heard great things about this and I particularly wanted to watch it as I'm making my way through Scorsese at the moment, but I just found it quite dull and boring. But my main criticism is the story...or lack of story. Like you said the performances and direction is brilliant, and it is because of that, that I can't slate this film entirely. However a good story is one of the essential ingrediants for a successful film, one that this is severly lacking. Keep up the good work!

Whoops! I neglected to say that the cover on The Ale Boy's Feast cover is beautiful and, aside from the face issues, I like it very well!

Auralia's Colors is by far my favorite, though I liked Raven's Ladder very much. I agree with Thomas' comments over on the Facebook page; it's always hard to have to ignore an artist's (mis!)conception of a character's face or attempt to reconcile it with my own.

I hope Boyle does a movie about <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/Health/Home/man-trapped-furnace-amputated-arm/story?id=10889441" rel="nofollow">the guy who got his arm trapped in his furnace</a>, next. I have a feeling the character would be a lot more likable.

Hear, hear.

So you were born with a long list of characteristics that guaranteed you a life of un-coolness? Wow, what a scientific field day it must have been in the maternity ward. :)
