I think the Animal Collective album is interesting, and I gave it several listens, waiting to “catch the fever.” Their lyrics are intriguing, but I’m just not into their sound. It’s too “shimmery” for me, and all of the songs all start to sound the same to me. But I know there are many who feel differently, so… enjoy!

Animal Collective! You can’t miss Animal Collective. In my mind it’s easily the best album of the year so far.

2009 must be a very bad musical year if U2′s album is in a top 10. Come on…there’s no creativity or anything artistic about that album. Let’s hope there will be a few good albums brought out this year (the new Manic Street Preachers album par example).

I’ve had troubles with Word for Mac, so I’d be more inclined to place the blame there. Though these Macs will occasionally act in the manner you described due to some runaway process or other. A system restart, though perhaps blasphemy to the Apple company, usually helps fix that if it’s particularly bad. I had a similar thing happen the other day when for no apparent reason Firefox started using almost the entire CPU load. In the Utilities folder of the Applications folder there is a program called “Activity Monitor” that is very similar to the Windows Task Manager, but it’ll also tell you what program is probably responsible for the spinning pin wheel, albeit highly technically.

Grizzly Bear – Veckatimest

It’s been blogged and reviewed to death, so there’s not much I can say about it. Definitely a record that calls for repeat listens; in true Grizzly Bear form, there’s a unified aesthetic that borders on perfection, but the real fun comes when the layers and distinctive hallmarks of each song begin to unfold.
