Browser: Radiohead’s next album; I’m speaking in Dallas; “Last Days of Disco” on Criterion; my review of “Lake Tahoe”; Star Trek convention photos

The Browser: News & links to raise your eyebrows & furrow your brow. New headlines may be added as the day goes on. Stay tuned.

1.

Radiohead’s recording a new album with Nigel Godrich. That headline makes me happier than almost any music I’ve heard this year so far.

2.

I don’t have a link to give you: Just news. Criterion is releasing my favorite Whit Stillman film, The Last Days of Disco, on DVD this August. It’s been out of print for a long time. I have one of those rare DVDs from its original release, and I keep it locked in a fireproof safe.

3.
In June, I’ll be visiting Dallas, Texas and speaking at this event.

4.

I’ve written a review of Lake Tahoe inspired by the format of Lake Tahoe. Instead of a continuous flow of text, it’s a bunch of excerpts of my thoughts interrupted by blackouts. You’ll find it at Filmwell.

Wow! Hopefully Criterion can get their hands on BARCELONA to complete the trilogy.

  2. David H. Says:

Woo-hoo! I’ve been waiting for Criterion to come out with “The Last Days of Disco” on DVD for years! it’s easily one of my favorite films of all time, and I agree with you, Jeff, that it’s the best of the Stillman trilogy. I love his masterful use of the two hymns “Dear Lord and Father of mankind, forgive our foolish ways…” and “Amazing Grace.”

  3. Doug Says:

well, good! i have never been able to see this film!

  4. Alexander Field Says:
