According to the story, the trend is to give pets "people" names--like Steve, or Molly. My #1 cat is named after a fictional person, "Xander." Xander then brought home his own kitten buddy, who inevitably named himself "Buddy," even though we tried to think of something more exotic.

Presently, I have a cat named Sauvage, Fr. for "wild", because she's 25% Serval. My previous cats were: Coquette, Fr. for "flirt", because she had one eye sewed shut; and Sorbet, because as a dilute-calico she looked like a tiny bowl of ice cream when I first saw her all curled up. Our (German) shepherd is named Leica, of course.
My fantasy for any future guard dogs is to have two and name them Justice and Mercy. I'd relish calling out those names! And I'd love a yard sign which reads: "Beware of Justice, Mercy's been fed."

And of course the 4th most popular dog name is Molly. If I had a dime for every time I introduced myself and the person said, "My dog's named Molly" I'd have a nice little nest egg.

Our dog is named Gideon because we really liked the name but thought that it would be too much of a name to saddle a kid with. Our cat is Phoebe. :)

And you already know that I noticed the significance of the dog names in Cyndere's Midnight, but I'll let someone else take a shot since I have unfair advantage! ;)

I had a friend long ago whose cat was named Larry Bird. It struck me as funny because they never shortened it to Larry. It was always Larry Bird.

My friends Todd and Angie recently got a dog, and they let their children name him. And those kids are creative geniuses.

The dog's name is Bravery.
